How do we actually detect food fraud in practice?
What happens when an authenticity issue raises suspicion? What expertise is needed? What evidence should we look for? And how can different actors work together to build a stronger and more effective investigation?
On 5 November 2026, EFF-CoP will bring these questions to RAFA 2026 through an interactive Living Lab designed to move beyond theory and focus on the realities of food fraud detection and authenticity investigations.

🎯 Session 19 – Authenticity on Trial: What It Actually Takes to Catch Food Fraud
The Living Lab will bring together experts and participants to explore real-world challenges in food fraud detection and discuss the role of collaboration, knowledge exchange, expertise and practical tools in strengthening food authenticity investigations.
But this will not be a session where you simply sit and listen!

Through an interactive activity, participants will have the opportunity to contribute their own perspectives, experiences and ideas, helping us explore the challenges that professionals face when trying to identify and investigate food fraud.
Because catching food fraud is rarely the work of one person, one discipline or one analytical method. It requires bringing together the right people, the right knowledge and the right evidence.
