Listen to the newest episode of EFF-CoP's Authentic Appetites, with title "The Dark Side of SeaFood: Fraud, Crime and Prevention". In this episode our host, Eva Zavitsanou (Smart Agro Hub), is joined by Marianne Svorken (Nofima), a researcher at the Norwegian food research institute Nofima. Her work focuses on fisheries management and regulatory issues from a socioeconomic perspective, and she has contributed to several projects addressing food fraud. She holds a master’s degree in fisheries science from the Norwegian College of Fishery Science and is currently completing a PhD on fisheries crime prevention from a criminological perspective. This podcast explores why seafood is especially vulnerable to food fraud, highlighting common risks such as species substitution, origin mislabelling, and falsified documentation across the value chain.
